The 81st CDDA AGM & Convention is proud to announce Dwayne Ross, President and Barry Nabess, Director of EHS & Training at Hy-Tech Drilling as featured speakers at this year’s event. At this year’s Convention, they will present “Managing uncertainty under pressure: lessons from the Red Chris fall of ground.”
Dwayne Ross has over 30 years of experience in mineral exploration and drilling and leads Hy-Tech Drilling as President. Appointed on March 1, 2025, he oversees a multi-region organization operating across Canada, the United States, Europe, and South America, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and values-based growth. He is also President of the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association Board of Directors, a role he has held since 2019.
Dwayne brings a deep, practical understanding of the industry’s complexities. Having progressed through a broad range of operational and leadership roles since joining Hy-Tech in 2002, his diverse career path provides a holistic view of both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. This experience supports informed leadership, steady execution, and dependable outcomes for clients, teams, and partners.
As Director of EHS and Training, Barry Nabess leads Hy-Tech Drilling’s efforts in environmental health, safety, and operations workforce development. Barry has committed the past two decades of his career to the diamond drilling industry, spending many of them with Hy-Tech since 2008. His wealth of company and industry knowledge to allows for historical context to inform his progressive approach to strategic EHS initiatives. His leadership fosters a proactive approach to risk management, reinforcing Hy-Tech’s commitment to employee well-being and environmental responsibility.
Proven in his former capacity as Training Manager, Barry focuses on maintaining and evolving our strong safety while ensuring employees receive top-tier training to bolster industry-leading standards.
Hy-Tech Drilling’s presentation will reflect the CDDA’s mission by emphasizing safety, industry standards, and shared lessons learned bringing members together to reflect on how we can continue to lead and improve as an industry.
