At the 81st CDDA AGM and Convention, the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association is proud to honour two individuals who have made a lasting impact on the diamond drilling industry.
The CDDA Lifetime Member Award represents the Association’s highest individual honour, recognizing members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and significant long-term contributions to both the industry and the CDDA. Recipients are carefully selected in recognition of their enduring influence and commitment to advancing the industry. We are pleased to announce the first recipient of this distinguished honour, Tim Bremner.
Tim Bremner, a native of North Bay, Ontario, began his drilling career in 1973 at the age of 16 as a helper in Sussex, New Brunswick. Over the next seven years, he worked extensively in the field, including assignments in Greenland and across the Arctic, developing his technical expertise and ultimately advancing to a Foreman role in British Columbia.
In 1981, Tim joined Longyear Canada in North Bay as a management trainee during one of the industry’s most challenging downturns. He quickly progressed through the organization, leading the geotechnical division by 1984 before returning to North Bay to head the sales division. During this time, he played a key role in integrating the acquisition of N. Morissette Diamond Drilling in Haileybury, successfully transitioning their underground fleet to the LM series drills. He later returned to operations as General Manager of Logan Drilling in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, before rejoining Longyear’s contracting division in 1990.
Building on his operational experience, Tim advanced rapidly within the organization, ultimately becoming Managing Director of Boart Longyear’s contract drilling operations across Canada, West Africa, and Brazil. In 2004, he relocated to Australia to lead the company’s Asia-Pacific contracting division.
In 2006, Tim joined Foraco International, where he pursued his long-held ambition of building a business from the ground up by establishing the company’s Canadian operations. Despite the challenges of a startup, the business grew quickly under his leadership, supported by the steady guidance of industry colleague Rob Steadman. Tim was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Foraco International three years ago and continues to serve in that role today.
He is currently based in his hometown of North Bay, Ontario, where he lives with his wife, Deb.
