Mentor Spotlight: Rémi Thibault, President Rocs Products

Our next Mentor Spotlight proudly features Rémi Thibault, President Rocs Products.

Rémi is recognized for his dedication to safety, innovation, and leadership in the diamond drilling industry. Our Membership Services Coordinator recently connected with him to highlight his contributions and acknowledge his continued support of the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association.

What is Your Experience in the Diamond Drilling Industry?

“I started my working career as a helper and then a driller for over 8 years. I worked on surface and underground throughout those years.”

“I left the drilling industry in 1994 to try a new challenge in sales for Exploration Services. Spent the next 10 years doing sales and development for the company across Québec, Ontario, and other provinces in Canada.”

“In 2004, I accepted a new position in Sales and Development for MBI Drilling products.

My role was to maintain our client base and work on the development of new clients and territories.”

“In 2007, we opened our first manufacturing facility and moved to a larger location in 2009. My role changed through the years, and I finished my career in international sales and Development.”

“I helped expand operations by opening offices in Canada, Chile, and Peru, and signed distributors around the world before selling the company in 2011. After leaving in 2015, I co-founded Eco-Services TGL, which later shifted into personnel rentals. In 2017, my partners and I purchased Mécanicad, where we improved products and grew internationally before selling in 2024. We also launched a ground support supply company in 2020 that continues to serve Canadian mines today. Most recently, in 2023, we founded Produits Rocs Inc., a growing manufacturer of drilling consumables with expanding clients and territories.”

How do you prioritize safety within your company?

Health and safety have always been a key priority across all our businesses. Each of our companies has its own health and safety plan.

When we founded ROCS Products, we made health and safety one of our core values from the very beginning. We provide employees with training and regular refreshers on safe work procedures.

Both workers and management are actively involved in safety discussions, inspections, and reporting. While we strongly emphasize prevention, everyone has the right and responsibility to stop unsafe work.

We not only meet but often exceed industry safety regulations, with the goal of building a culture where safety goes beyond compliance.

We believe that performance can only be sustainable if it’s accompanied by the physical end mental well-being of our employees.

What is Your Approach to Leadership?

“My main idea for leadership is to try to maintain an environment in which everyone feels comfortable.

We try to create an atmosphere that is positive and engaging. I support the team in any way I can, but I let them take the lead. For me, trust and respect are the key elements in building a strong team.

Communication is also very important and that is why we organize social meetings often with all the employees.

Employees who are happy and feel trusted and respected will always give you 100% of themselves.”

We extend our thanks to Rémi for his continued support of both the CDDA and the diamond drilling industry. We invite our members to learn more about Produits Rocs Products at https://www.produitsrocs.ca/
