The Northern Ontario Safety Group gave out $1.6 million in rebates from WSIB Ontario to 75 Ontario businesses the 2015 program year. The CDDA wanted to share with its Members that the closing date to join the Safety Group is coming up. Applications to join the 2017 Safety Group program are currently being accepted until December 12. If you’re not already a member there are several benefits and opportunities of membership, including:

- Information updates regarding health and safety legislation, resource material and training
- Local speakers on topics of interest to your region
- Health and safety information and knowledge sharing
- Guidance and support in meeting Safety Group program requirements
- Potential financial rebate
The rebates from WSIB and Northern Ontario Safety Group are based on frequency. The CDDA’s DEC certification can assist companies to establish and implement a system to improve best operating practices in the areas of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management, which could lower a company’s frequency.
