The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association is pleased to announce Epiroc as our May Manufacturer Member of the Month. We interviewed a member from their company to learn more about their services and membership with the CDDA.
Can you tell us more about your company?
Epiroc is a global productivity partner for mining and construction customers, and accelerates the transformation toward a sustainable society. With ground-breaking technology, Epiroc develops and provides innovative and safe equipment, such as drill rigs, rock excavation, exploration products, construction equipment and tools for surface and underground applications. The company also offers world-class service and other aftermarket support as well as solutions for automation, digitalization and electrification. Epiroc’s global headquarters is based in Stockholm, Sweden, had revenues of SEK 50 billion in 2025, and has around 18 100 passionate employees supporting and collaborating with customers in around 150 countries.
Can you tell us more about the product you would like to spotlight? 
Epiroc’s Diamec Automated Rod Magazine (ARM), recently displayed at PDAC 2026, is designed to work with the Diamec Smart 6M, Diamec Smart 6 and Diamec Smart 8. All rigs must be equipped with the rod handling system.
The Diamec Automated Rod Magazine (ARM) will boost your productivity, increase safety and reduce operational costs. The operator station is moved further away from the machine, which ensures that the operator is kept away from danger. A camera is mounted on the Diamec Smart rig, making it easier to check that rods are correctly threaded, directly from the operator panel. Threading is performed via a joystick-equipped control panel which is connected to the unit by cable. A dual grease brush and grease pump ensures that every pin thread is greased automatically when tripping in rods, which also helps to keep the operator out of risk zones.
The control panel also provides the operator with information about settings and enables positions to be programmed. It also presents a visual overview of the number of rods left in the cassette and at what position the magazine is picking the rods. Two Diamec joysticks can be used in case the operator needs to control the magazine manually.
Additionally, the magazine also has the ability to rotate the gripper arm, which makes the alignment towards the rig flexible, and creates an easier setup. The magazine trips in rods with minimal operator input and trips out rods automatically with no extra assistance.

For years, Epiroc has seen great value in being a member of the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association. The CDDA provides opportunities to meet and collaborate with key industry leaders and supports the industry wherever possible. We feel it is essential for Canadian companies to maintain a relationship with the CDDA so you can connect to colleagues and customers across the country.
