We’re excited to introduce the Bring It To The Surface Spotlight, a new feature that recognizes individuals in our industry who are helping break the stigma around mental health, wellness, substance use awareness, fatigue management, and creating psychologically safer workplaces. The CDDA’s Bring It to the Surface, together with Lead Program Partner the Ontario Mining Association, is proud to recognize Jordan Pisani, Senior Driller with Geotech Drilling.
Jordan was nominated for his ongoing championship of mental health within his work teams. Jordan participates in many drilling projects and has influence with, and trains, many drillers. Jordan incorporates mental well-being into his regular communication, which is especially important for his colleagues working in remote camps away from their families for long periods. Jordan is an advocate for letting people know that it is okay to talk about how they are feeling, which resonates with the Bring it to the Surface purpose.
Recently, Jordan heard that a colleague’s relationship had ended and reached out to check in, offer support, and remind that person that he was just a phone call away if they needed to talk. Whether on the same site or working on a different project, Jordan’s willingness to check in and support those around him is making a meaningful difference for mental health in the industry.
Bring it to the Surface would like to thank Jordan for his commitment to promoting wellbeing in the industry and for being there for his colleagues both on and off the site. If you know someone in the field who is making a difference for your team, email office@cdda.ca to nominate them today to receive Bring it to the Surface Merchandise and a feature on our website.
