In Memory of a Dedicated Industry Leader and Long-Time Supporter of the CDDA.
It is with great sadness that the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association acknowledges the passing of Ron Kunstman — a valued and long-standing supporter of our Association and a respected figure within the diamond drilling industry.
Ron’s dedication to the CDDA and his contributions to our Association spanned many years. He was more than a member — he was a passionate advocate for the industry, a trusted colleague to many, and a true believer in the values of connection, collaboration, and continuous improvement that our Association stands for.
The family of Ron Kunstman is deeply saddened to share the news of Ron’s passing on May 30th, 2025 after a short illness. He was 81 years old. Ron was a legend. He was a well- known and respected figure in the diamond drilling and exploration industry for over 55 years. Owner of Extreme Products Inc. and Talik Industrial Services, Ron created, advised and supplied successful drilling programs and specialized equipment for Canadian companies domestically and world-wide. His unique expertise will be sorely missed.
Ron is survived by his wife, Fay, son, Scott (Sharleen Hamm), daughter Jenna Ashe (Kevin) and brother, Garry (Gail). He is survived also by nieces and nephews and their families in B.C., Alberta, Ontario, the Maritimes, Texas and Hawaii.

Throughout his career, Ron exemplified professionalism and integrity. He championed the growth of the industry, supported new ideas and innovations, and never hesitated to lend his time and experience to help others. Whether through active participation in CDDA events or simply being a reliable presence within the diamond drilling industry, Ron left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of working with him.
As we reflect on his legacy, we are reminded of the importance of those individuals who helped shape our industry and laid the groundwork for future generations. Ron Kunstman was one of those individuals, and his impact will not be forgotten.
