Geologist Day is taking place on April 5, 2026. The CDDA is proud to celebrate Geologist Day by recognizing the dedicated professionals who play a critical role in advancing our industry. National Geologists Day is celebrated annually on the first Sunday in April to honour the work of geologists, geophysicists, and geochemists. This year, we are pleased to spotlight a selection of talented geologists from our member companies, highlighting their expertise, contributions, and the impact they make across the industry.
We are pleased to spotlight Micheala. She is Team Drilling’s Health and Safety coordinator and a Geologist in Training.
Team Drilling is a valued member of the CDDA with an impressive over 17 years in the industry. Team Drilling’s commitment to providing a safe work environment for its employees has been paramount throughout its journey.
Micheala’s role at Team Drilling aligns closely with the CDDA’s mission of advancing industry standards and promoting safety across the diamond drilling industry. Through her focus on health and safety practices, combined with her developing geological expertise, she plays an important role in supporting and strengthening her team.

The CDDA is also proud to spotlight Daniel Swiatek, Ops & Technical Support Manager based out of Axis Mining Technology’s Markham office. Daniel is a Geophysicist was his specific studies but has been in our industry for several years (10+ years) he plays a critical role in their organization. Daniel overseas many aspects of their business regarding their survey equipment services in Canada. His responsibilities include: asset management, tool calibration, shipping & receiving, procurement and customer technical support. Axis Mining Technology highlighted that Daniel deserves this recognition for his great can-do attitude and his expertise that helps drive and advance the mineral exploration world.

The CDDA is also pleased to spotlight Mr. Al Mainville nominated by Orbit Garant. He joined Pan American Silver in 2019 and has held various technical and operational roles including Interim Mine Manager and General Manager roles for the Timmins operations in 2019 and 2020. He is currently the Director of Exploration and Geology overseeing all exploration and site geology for the Timmins area.
Mr. Mainville has over 28 years of experience working in both underground and open pit mining operations, as well as exploring for gold and base metals in Canada and Mongolia.
Prior to joining Pan American Silver, he held senior and management roles as: Chief Geologist for Tahoe Resources Inc.’s Bell Creek mine; Geology Superintendent leading concept and pre-feasibility studies for Goldcorp’s Century project; Technical Services Superintendent for Goldcorp’s Hollinger and Dome operations and various other technical and project management roles for Goldcorp, Placer Dome, Kinross, Exall, Teck, Cominco and Quicunx Gold.
Mr. Mainville is a professional geoscientist and holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Geology from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada.

The CDDA is also pleased to spotlight Alejandra Flores who is a Geologist and Customer Success Manager at Coreplan. She uses her background in Geology and mining exploration to inform a deep understanding of the client’s needs at Coreplan.
